Print Session

It felt good to be back in print after so long away, I always manage to have something to show for the time spent even when I go in with no ideas in mind. I was just playing around with mixed media techniques and trying to produce the right shade of brown I was looking for with the Remazol dyes but had a bit more luck with the disperse dyes and was able to create some interesting transfer prints onto fabric that I feel fit in with my idea of Rustic and the concept of Imperfection.

CAD Presentation

We've been given our brief (yes another one) and have been roughly talked through the project . I think I understand what is being asked of us it's just the process and how to go about it in order to achieve the required task of successfully predicting a trend for S/S 14 as it sounds rather complicated.

CAD refresh session

Here's the work from our first CAD session- my usual work is not as bad as these, it's just that we were drawing/sketching with the graphics tablets still life's of what we had in our bags- I hate when we're asked to do this task and timed as I'm never any good at it; even on paper. It always seems to knock my self-a steam about my work as it looks as though a four year old could do better.

Still life 5min sketch of hairgrip, phone, notebook & bracelet

5min continuous line drawing- A rather pathetic attempt of drawing my notebook and keys

2min sketch using rubber tool-If you're wondering what this is; it's suppose to be a keyring

I much prefer this one- testing out brush stokes to create texture effect

Same again but this time adding colour

Layering task- for this I decided to test layering with mark-making brush strokes

Duplicating some of the layers; overlapping sections

Moving the layer order around and playing with the opacity

Vivid layer effect

Decreasing the saturation and playing about with the hue

First Tutorial

After that tutorial, I'm still not sure about my idea but have decided to go ahead and start work on my sketchbook; I do have a concept and a theme as well as a colour palette- it's the trend I'm a bit stuck with...

Library Recap

Well, I've appeared to have remembered most things- not sure if I understand Summon searching a bit more but found out about a few more sites for trends, visuals etc so that helps.

Studio Space

Had to get into Uni for 8:30am when we had no classes today but I have a studio space; has to be filled by the end of the week- best get cracking but I've got some ideas for the project and found two trends that link in with what I want so hopefully be more sure after tutorial on Wednesday.

100% Design Show 2012

Yesterday TENT, today 100% Design- totally walked of my feet but got some good photos; great for research and inspiration :)
Its been redesigned this year by new owners of 100%, to get into the show you went through a long dark tent with lights which opened up onto a circular bar and entrances to the different sections of the show- very impressive.

This was amazing stuff; its shaped like snake skin and can fold into shapes or around objects

made for vinyl, veneer, plastic etc

and so simply connected together with thread running through joined sections

I seen these before and still love them, if they're smaller the can be used as stencils
