Huddersfield Art & Design Degree Show 2012

Headed down to Huddersfield today to see the degree show, I've been to each one since I started uni and last year was a really good show and as some of my class mates went straight into final year; I wanted to see everyone's work.
There were quite a few interesting pieces from textiles & textile craft as well as surface design.
This piece was really interesting; cut metal

It created great shadows

Shadow of metal piece

Textile Crafts- This was really good texture wise

Textile Crafts- Interesting texture & material

Textile Crafts- It's Huddersfield!- laser cut wooden building fronts

Textile Crafts- This was based on acid with an intricate effect

Textile Crafts- Under a magnifying glass

Textile Crafts- These were quite wow; embroidered designs

Textile Design- I quite like this piece I think the random spread of colour works really well

This ones quite a statement piece which works well as it's a fashion textile- Tribal Deco

Surface Design- The composition of this piece & the bold colour scheme makes it more predominate

Textile Design- This was another fashion textile piece and I think a very strong project & final piece

Textile Design- This is the final piece from the same project as the image above

Surface Design- These butterflies added uniqueness to this piece's display

Textile Design- These were quite refreshing & bright pieces

Surface Design- These photos are of final lighting pieces are really good; I love shadow & lights- so effective

Textile Design- Textile wall coverings

I really like this lamp shade from the same project as image above

Surface Design- These are quite interesting pieces; almost optical illusions

I really like these wall coverings; paper flowers on a paper base

These are definitaly unique & individual pieces

I think the soft colour pallet works well too

Each piece has a bespoke feel to it

Surface Design- Interesting wall covering with jewellery print across three panels with pearl bauble embellishments

Same project; the black works well to make the paler colours stand out

Another piece from project above; this uses LED lighting element within the design

Surface Design-This is a very structural project with interesting print techniques used on unusual materials

Surface Design- Treasure trove of techniques & materials

Surface Design- This piece really works well due to the layering & embroidery techniques used

PaperSalad week 27

Well it was my last week at my placement with PaperSalad and I can definitely say it's been an experience, and I have learnt quite a bit.
I finished making up the five sample sets of every card of every range, as well as working through some orders.
Karen & Claire went for a visit to Hallmark on Wednesday to see how the delivery boxes will arrive and be organised- very high tech apparently.
I tried some new things out with some of my imagery; creating backing designs etc.
I'm going to still continue with the briefs I was set as there are some I still want to do. I'm also planning to do some design boards for the briefs I've completed; and with my printed cards I'll be able to them from start to finish with a final piece to show- should look good in my portfolio :)

Thanks to Karen & Claire and everyone at PaperSalad for the opportunity; it's been great
