PaperSalad- week11

A new shelving went up this week so all the boxes and palettes etc had to be moved out of the way and taken down to the store room- not an easy task.  Unpacked new delievery of shapes that I sorted out into the correct places and re-stocked all the shapes. Worked on a few orders and helped Emma package up boxes to be sent to New Zealand.


I was able to work on my design brief and took my laptop in to aid me with the researching part, I've started some ideas using different media techniques; pen, pencil, watercolours, line drawing and even glittering :) I plan to scan them into the computer so I can work with them in CAD.

PaperSalad- week10

It was very crowded in the studio this week as there were boxes everywhere that had been delivered and needed to be made up for the Waitrose order.
  I was working on a sample pack for a new agent- so that meant a pack of every card from every range.
  Picked some orders for "Not On The High Street", as well as making up some orders and finishing off some of the "jelly pops".
  I took all the Valentines cards and decorations down and replaced them with Mother's Day designs, and filled the card spinner with age cards.
  Karen & Claire have set me a design brief; so I'll be able to work on that during the afternoons; the theme is "Birthday" which looks at pastles colours, lines and poka-dots and is focused around cupcakes, sweets and ice cream etc, so I need to do a bit of research then I can start drawing :)

Here's some photos of my stall at WA; which went quite well and the feedback I got was lovely. I'll be attending another event in April for an Easter market, which will be under a different name of "Created in WA" (instead of Made) as the name of the group has been changed- or rather a new group has been formed :)

Stitch & Craft Show

This is a great show for crafters and I've been going every year since- I don't know. It's great for bargains like show offer on crafting equiptment and designs etc and new product launches.


I stocked up on equiptment to help with my own designing for my freelancing, threads etc all topped up for when I go back to Uni- cos you never know what I'll use up in the mean time :)

Surface Design Show

This show is a definate must if your a surface Designer; it gives you great insight to new surfaces, textures and materials out there as well as trend forcast and of course- ideas and inspiration.


I've been going for the last two years now; last year I got the chance to exhibit some of my own work on the Leeuwenburgh stand; a company we did a live project brief with at Uni as well as the Huddersfield stand as well. This year Leeuwenburgh weren't there and apparently didn't do a brief for this years 2nd year students. The Uni stand looked good with graduates work and 3D printing examples, I stopped for a chat with Jo (Jo Harris- head of Surface Design at Uni) about placement and 3rd year.


There were some really interesting textures and materials this year; magnetic fabric wall tiles and engraving and printing onto concrete- even so I'd have to say the show seemed a little smaller than last year.

PaperSalad- week9

Back at Paper Salad; for half week only, as I'm visiting trade shows in London and Manchester on Thur and Fri.
Karen & Claire will be at Spring Fair all week, so that leaves Emma in charge to get all things sorted for more orders when they get back.


I was making up sample packs of the new ranges for agents and one for New Zealand, sorted through the Waitrose invoices with Emma. We worked through some orders and rearranged a few shelves around to make room for some of the boxes still left on the palette.
